Weekly Bible Verse

Each week I want to provide a Bible verse to share with everyone. In the craziness of the world we live in, with all kinds of stressors I find verses help me to focus and bring me a sense of calm.
Also I want to post Klove’s radio website. We love KLove in our house simply because it is a good contemporary Christian station and they have great music. I don’t have to worry about what my kids are hearing on the radio while we listen. You can listen online or find a station in your area. http://www.klove.com/
Bible Verse 9/12-9/18
"Come to me , all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

Here is a video from youtube that my oldest daughter and I love. Untitled Hymn (Come to Jesus) by Chris Rise. enjoy.

Meal Plans 9/12-9/18

A while ago I decided to start meal planning as a way to stick to a grocery budget, make dinner time easier by knowing each night what we were having and making sure we had the items to cook those meals.  Each week I hope to share with you my dinner meals for the week. I usually don't plan breakfast or lunch simply because breakfast usually consist of cereal, eggs, toast, etc. and our lunches usually consist of leftovers, peanut butter & jelly, frozen nuggets etc. We also dont eat a lot of red meat because of past history of high cholestrol levels. Below you will find this weeks meals.
The main structure for my meal plans are:
1 pasta/spaghetti meal
3 chicken meals
1 breakfast or leftover night.
1 fish
1 taco or pizza night we rotate on Fridays
(I use ground turkey in the place of ground beef for all meals. Also sometimes instead of doing breakfast, leftover or fish I will do another meal using ground turkey for example;  meatloaf, hamburgers, sloppy joe's etc.)

Meals Week 12th-18th
Mon. Baked chicken, rice and corn
Tues. Breakfast for dinner (either homemade pancakes or omelettes)
Wed. grilled chicken, pasta salad, and green beans
Thurs. Tuna cakes, macaroni & cheese and corn
Fri. Taco Night
Sat. having bday party for youngest daughter so will have party leftovers
Sun. Roasted whole chicken, au graten potatoes, mixed veggies

Where were you?

Where were you? Do you remember what you were doing? Those are the questions that everyone asks on September 11. This year marks the 10th anniversary when terrorists attack this country. So where was I? What was I doing?
I was in boot camp. It was our 1st or 2nd week of training, the worst part of it they say. I remember we were going about things normally in our barracks when we were told to form up outside.  Then we were told that the United States was under attack. We were told to look around the base for anything that didn’t look normal, anything that might resemble a bomb, etc. We then had to open and look into every locker in the barracks. Then we went about the rest of our training, not hearing news reports or seeing any papers. The Chaplain would come by on Sunday afternoons and give us a tiny update but I don’t think none of us had any idea how bad it truly was.
That was till our on base liberty, when we finally hit the mark in our training (6wks) to have free time to call home, read the paper, but still no TV. I remember feeling confused and it just didn’t seem real. I felt like it was something from a high school history class that we were reading about. It’s a weird feeling to know that this horrible terrible tragedy happened and we were not living it. We were in boot camp so even though we were told, we didn’t live it like everyone else. Now 10yrs later I still struggle with the reality of something like that happening. I know it happened, I see the aftermath of what happened, but it still doesn’t seem real. We just weren’t allowed to think about it and live it like the rest of the country was. So that’s where I was and what I was doing terrible tragic day in our history.
My heart and prayers goes out to those families and friends who lost loved ones in the attacks on NYC, the Pentagon, and the plane crash in PA. I just couldn’t imagine dealing with a loss in such a tragic way. I know time does not heal these wounds but I truly hope and pray that those who went through such pain on that day have found any peace that they may need.

6 Year Anniversary!!

Wow! Time flies. Today marks 6 years since I married my amazing Husband.
We meet while we both were Active Duty in the military. Honestly it was a point, I think in both of our lives that we were done with the dating scene and decided when the time is right someone will come along. It’s amazing how when you sit back and be patient God makes things happen in your life.  A mutual friend introduced us and things were so busy in my life at that moment we didn’t get to even really talk or go on a date. I will never forget the day my friend called and said, “Vana, if you don’t call him I am not going to talk to you anymore, you need to call him now” So being  20yrs old and not having any other close friends I thought, geez I better call him. We talked on the phone for over an hour. I think that was one of the best things about our relationship and because of both our schedules at work sometimes we only seen each other once a week. So we spent a lot of time talking and getting to know each other before we started going on many dates.
After a year of dating he proposed to me on an early morning when I returned on a red eye flight from weeklong training in CA. Needless to say when I got off the plane I felt like I was hit by a bus and wasn’t quite with it mentally. We got home and he had rose petals leading the way to a teddy bear holding a present. In my completely over tired mind I simply thanked him for  getting me such a cute bear, not realizing I needed to open the present! Huge dork! Yes, that’s me! He looks at me and says, “Open it” The rest is history. We ended up getting married 9 months later.  A year and two months after that we had our 1st daughter and then almost 2yrs after that we had our 2nd daughter.
It has been an amazing 6 years and I love him just as much, if not more than the day we married. I’m very grateful for having such an amazing husband, friend, and father to our children in my life. I think God everyday for him and look forward to many more years growing old together. The song we danced to 6 years ago today still means just as much as it did back then. http://youtu.be/zS3MIWuMRhQ
(I used a video from youtube to share the song, my ITunes isn't working, lol)

Ready, Set, Go

Ready, Set, Go! Seriously! That’s the only thing that pops into my mind for my first posting. Funny how I was thinking of all the different things I was going to start with and that’s all that came. Well that’s life and that’s me! We will have many of these moments if you decide to come back to continue reading. What you read is what you get with me, thats for sure!  You can learn all about me on the right hand side of the page but for now I figure I will just tell you what I hope to share on here.
In the business of living life  and how crazy that can be at times, I have found ways to make everyday tasks, chores, etc a lot less stressful and simple. I figure why not blog about it and hope to help someone else along the way. I hope to share ideas and tips that have helped me with cooking, cleaning, shopping, and just plain living life. So expect a little bit of everything on here, aren’t you excited! It may not be the right way for you but it has worked or maybe hasn’t worked for me.  I truly feel life should be simple and deep down miss living where people take care of each other. So my goal is to share with you all and hope to help someone along the way. Life’s too short. I hope you will continue to come back to my new adventure blogging!
